Pole Treaters

As part of Custer Public Power District’s continued commitment to provide the most reliable service possible, we will be contracting with SBS Inspection, Inc. to inspect approximately 1,600 distribution poles. It has been proven that this pole-treating program has helped to find the weak links in the District’s distribution & transmission system, which has resulted in fewer outages. The testing this year will mark over twenty–five years of this type of preventative practice.

They will be testing poles in the North Platte Substation area starting mid August through September.

Customers may notice the service vehicles of the contractors, including pickups or ATVs, in pastures and fields as they treat and inspect poles. The workmen have been instructed to respect the customer’s property and fences and to re-close gates when they find them closed.
